Disclaimer
Everything we publish is journalism. None of it is advice about what you personally should do with your money.
This is not financial advice
We write about deposits, tax, property and investment because those are subjects people need explained properly. We are not financial advisers, we are not registered with SEBI or any equivalent regulator, and nothing on this site is a personal recommendation.
An article explaining how a fixed deposit compounds, or what tax collected at source costs on a remittance, is a description of how something works. It is not a suggestion that you should buy that product. Your circumstances, your tax position and your tolerance for risk are not known to us, and they are exactly what a recommendation would have to depend on.
Before acting on anything you read here, speak to a qualified professional — a chartered accountant, a registered investment adviser, or a lawyer for a legal question.
About the numbers
Where we show arithmetic, we compute it rather than estimate it, and every table states the assumptions it rests on. Those assumptions are examples. Change the rate, the slab, the tenure or the exchange rate and the answer changes. Redo the sum with your own figures rather than treating ours as your result.
Things go out of date
Interest rates, tax rules, deadlines and prices change, sometimes without notice. Each article carries the date it was published and, where it has been revisited, the date it was last checked. Verify time-sensitive figures against the original source before relying on them; we link to those sources on every article for that reason.
Accuracy and corrections
We check what we publish against primary sources and we correct errors openly — see our corrections policy. That is a commitment to fix mistakes, not a guarantee that none exist.
Not legal or medical advice either
The same applies outside money. An article about a law explains what the law says; it is not legal advice about your situation. An article touching on health is not medical advice and is not a substitute for a clinician.
